Texaco - Wings Of Texaco #11 (2003) - The "Texaco DC-3C Gooney Bird" - REGULAR EDITION - This incredible plane is 10" long, 3" high, and has a wingspan of 15.25"!! This die-cast model weighs over 2 pounds, includes a base, and is highly detailed with retractable landing gear and rotating propellers. Purchased by Texaco from the U.S. government in Feb. 1947, this Douglas DC-3C entered civilian life after serving in the Army Transport Division as a C-47. Affectionately dubbed the "Gooney Bird" by military personnel, C-47s played a versatile and vital role in WWII carrying troops, supplies and equipment. Texaco's Executive Service operated this particular DC-3C out of New York with pilots H. W. Pember and H. W. Hulford logging 797 hours and 122,000 miles before the company sold the plane to Pure Oil in June 1949.
