Thirteenth in the "Wings of Texaco" series, this Texaco WACO Straightwing represents the plane which was purchased on October 4, 1929 and used in sales solicitation in the Southern and Northern territories from October 25, 1929 to November 25, 1932. Captain Frank Hawks, while working for Texaco, conceived an idea to promote the public's interest in avaiation and advertise Texaco's superior fulels and lubrications by towing Texaco's heavy duty special glider the "Eaglet" across America. Departing San Diego on March 31, 1930, the two pilots reached Van Cortlandt Park in New York City on April 6, 1930.
Produced as a limited edition, the WACO STRAIGHTWING is available in the REGULAR edition which sports the red paint finish or the SPECIAL edition which is a brushed metal finish.
