Vel’s Parnelli Jones Racing was founded in 1969 by Parnelli Jones and Velko “Vel” Miletich. The team quickly became a powerhouse in USAC competition. They then partnered to create what would become a 'Superteam' with Al Unser in the #1 and sister car #2 of Mario Andretti. The pair would dominate the 1973 Champ Car season.
