A new car buyer in 1969 could specify any Ford fleet color from any of the charts including Mercury and Lincoln. This rare special-order paint, Midnight Orchid, was available on a few different models including the 1969 Thunderbirds. In direct sunlight the purple color is visible, but in lower light can appear dark maroon or nearly black.
